A Saints running back and former Alabama Crimson Tide football player has been suspended for using performance-enhancing drugs.

Mark Ingram will sit out the first four games of the 2018 season for violating the league's policy on performance-enhancing substances. However, he will be eligible to return to the Saints' active roster on Monday, October 1 following the team's September 30 game against the New York Giants.

Ingram is still allowed to practice and play on the team in the preseason.

During his sophomore college season in 2009, Ingram was named the 75th Heisman Trophy winner, the first-ever Alabama Crimson Tide player to claim the title.
