Two Jacksonville State University students brought home a national title for Cornhole. Yes, the game many casually play at tailgating earned them the title as the American Cornhole League National College Doubles Champions.

What started as tailgating fun, landed Branson Oliver and Dustin Travis in a national championship.

"I follow ACL which is the professional Cornhole. They played the SEC Championship last year, but it's only SEC teams. So I was like, 'Man I wish they played all teams. We could probably win this'," said Oliver.

One year later, they got their wish. The ACL made the tournament available to all undergraduate teams. So they hit the road and went to South Carolina to compete.

"The first game we played in the tournament was against the SEC Champions University of Georgia. We beat them to be on ESPN," said Oliver.

Competing in front of the world, Branson and Dustin said there was only one thing to do: win!

"Our championship game we played Baldwin College. We were down 7 to 0 the beginning of the game and we had to come back to win it.," said Oliver.

It was a win well deserved, with their school supporting them the whole way.

Dustin and Branson say they hope their success will bring major sponsors and more funding from JSU so they can continue competing.

The friends say they received a lot of feedback and hope it will encourage more people at JSU to join them and compete.
